Assam NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Registration and Choice Filling Open; Merit List Published

DME Assam has opened Round 1 registration, choice filling and locking until 21 October 2026 at 11:55 PM. The result is scheduled for 24 October and reporting for 26–30 October.

Assam NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Registration and Choice Filling Open; Merit List Published

DME Assam has started Round 1 online counselling for NEET PG 2026. Registration, choice filling and choice locking are open from 17 October to 21 October 2026, up to 11:55 PM. The official notice also publishes the provisional merit list, allotment-processing period, result date and reporting window.

Doctor action: Log in through the DME Assam counselling platform, verify the rank you must use, complete any required registration, enter choices in genuine preference order and lock them before 11:55 PM on 21 October. Save the final locked-choice page and payment/registration records, if applicable.

What DME Assam Has Announced

The Round 1 process covers 50% State-quota postgraduate seats in Assam Government Medical Colleges and Dr B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati. The notice also refers to open-category seats at Government-run institutions accredited by NBEMS. A seat should be treated as available only if it appears in the official counselling matrix or live choice list.

This notice is materially different from the earlier merit-list correction and incentive-claim notices. It starts the actual Round 1 choice process and fixes the result and reporting dates.

Provisional Merit List: What the Numbers Mean

Candidates listed

3,584

Provisional applicant pool, not guaranteed eligibility or admission

First listed score / AIR

600 / AIR 103

Top entry in this provisional list

Last listed score / AIR

-4 / AIR 265,807

Last entry shown; this is not a branch or college cutoff

The list was compiled from NBEMS data, candidate-entered State/MBBS information and applicable incentive marks. Inclusion is provisional and eligibility will be checked by the competent authority and allotted college. These figures are not opening or closing ranks. A valid cutoff can be derived only after the official allotment result is reconciled by institute, speciality, course, quota, category and round.

State Rank and In-Service Instructions

  • In-service candidates with approved rural/remote/difficult-area incentive marks: use the serial number in the annexed provisional merit list as the Assam State Rank and select “Yes” for in-service status.

  • Eligible State-quota candidates whose names are not in the annexed list: the notice permits registration using the Assam State Rank shown by NBEMS in the NEET PG 2026 scorecard and selecting “No” for in-service status.

  • All candidates: verify the number entered before submission. A merit-list entry alone does not establish final eligibility.

Round 1 Exit and Later-Round Position

DME Assam states that Round 1 has free exit. A candidate allotted a seat who does not join remains eligible for further rounds under the notified rule. Candidates who participate in Round 1 do not need to register again for later rounds. Fresh registration is permitted for candidates who did not register earlier, including candidates who registered but did not participate in the earlier round, subject to the official rules applicable at that stage.

Free exit does not remove the need to verify portal status and later notices. Do not assume upgrade, resignation, retention or forfeiture terms for subsequent rounds until DME Assam publishes them.

How to Build the Choice List

  1. Put choices in true preference order; allotment depends on rank, category/quota eligibility, seat availability and the order submitted.

  2. Evaluate branch fit, clinical exposure, workload, academics, procedural opportunities, fees, stipend, bond/service terms, location and living costs—not prestige alone.

  3. For NBEMS-accredited institutions, verify that the seat is actually present in the counselling choice list. Accreditation is not the same as counselling availability.

  4. Keep ambitious, realistic and safer acceptable choices, but never add an option you would not be willing to join under the applicable round rules.

  5. Lock choices before 11:55 PM on 21 October and save proof. DME Assam says candidates will not receive individual communication, so monitor the official portal yourself.

What This Notice Does Not Change

The notice does not publish a new seat total or branch-wise/category-wise vacancy matrix, and it does not revise tuition fees, deposits, stipend, bond, service obligation or seat-leaving penalties. It also does not publish any cutoff. Use separate current official documents for those fields and do not rely on unverified social-media values.
