NEET UG Counselling Explained in Simple Words
What is NEET UG counselling?
NEET UG counselling is the online seat allotment process for MBBS and BDS admission in India. Students who qualify NEET UG can participate in MCC counselling, state counselling and other eligible routes based on rank, category, quota, domicile and college preference.
Who is eligible for All India Quota?
Any NEET-qualified student from any Indian state can participate in AIQ counselling for the 15% seats in state government colleges. J&K students were excluded historically but are now included. Students with Jamia, AMU, or BHU preference must check their specific quota rules.
How is an MBBS/BDS seat allotted?
Seat allotment depends on NEET AIR, category, quota, eligibility, available seats, reservation rules and the order of choices filled. Prediction is guidance, not a guarantee.
Who conducts NEET UG counselling?
MCC conducts All India Quota, AIIMS, JIPMER, Deemed/Central Universities, ESIC and other national-level routes. State counselling authorities conduct state quota and private college counselling as per state rules.
