Registration/document completion remains relevant today for candidates covered by the reopened window, but the newly published operational stage is now the Round 1 choice-filling process.

Who Can Fill Choices?

Only candidates who satisfy the applicable UP NEET UG counselling requirements and are eligible for Round 1 participation can fill college/course preferences.

Before choice filling, verify:

• Registration completed
• Registration fee paid
• Documents uploaded
• Document verification status
• Required security money paid
• Candidate is eligible for Round 1 choice submission

Security Money Is Important

Candidates should not assume registration alone activates choice filling.

UP counselling uses separate security deposits according to the institution type.

Common counselling security amounts include different levels for:

• Government Medical/Dental Colleges
• Private Medical Colleges
• Private Dental Colleges

Candidates should verify their own payment status in the official portal before attempting final choice submission.

Government vs Private College Strategy

Do not create one random combined preference list.

Government Medical Colleges

Prioritise according to:

• college reputation
• clinical exposure
• location
• historical admission cutoff
• service/bond rules where applicable
• hostel and academic factors

Private Medical Colleges

Compare:

• new 2026–27 tuition fee
• security deposit
• hostel/other charges
• patient load
• university affiliation
• previous closing AIR
• minority/non-minority eligibility where relevant

UPNEET has now published fresh 2026–27 MBBS and BDS fee-fixation Government Orders, so old fee data should not be used blindly.

Choice Filling Strategy

Your preference order directly controls your allotment.

If College A is your genuine first preference and College B is your second preference, fill:

1. College A
2. College B

Do not arrange colleges simply according to where you think your rank can get admission.

The allotment engine checks your choices sequentially according to merit and seat availability.

Therefore students should include:

Dream Choices

Colleges slightly above the expected range.

Possible Choices

Colleges near the realistic expected cutoff band.

Safer Choices

Acceptable colleges that historically closed below your current competitive position.

Do Not Fill an Unacceptable College as a “Backup”

If you receive a college/course based on your submitted choices, later counselling consequences may apply according to the official Round 1 rules.

Therefore:

Only enter a college if you would genuinely consider taking that seat under the applicable counselling conditions.

This is especially important for high-fee private MBBS seats.

MBBS and BDS Should Be Planned Separately

Candidates interested primarily in MBBS should first structure their preferred MBBS institutions.

BDS choices should then be added according to the candidate's actual willingness to study dentistry.

Do not place a BDS college above an MBBS institution you genuinely prefer unless that order reflects your real preference.

Private College Fee Warning

UPNEET has also published new:

Students targeting private colleges should check these latest fee orders before locking preferences.

Do not use an older 2025 fee table for a 2026 choice-filling decision.
