UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 Cancelled & Reconducted After High Court Order — Fresh Choice Filling Started, Round 2 Postponed

UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 has undergone a major revision after an Allahabad High Court order. The earlier Round-1 allotment dated 7 September has been invalidated, fresh Round-1 choice filling is underway from 18–21 September, revised allotment will be declared on 22 September, and Round 2 remains postponed until further orders.

🚨 UP NEET UG Counselling 2026: Round 1 Cancelled & Reconducted After High Court Order

Major Update for MBBS/BDS candidates: The previous UP NEET UG 2026 Round-1 allotment process has been superseded. Candidates must participate in the fresh Round-1 choice-filling process, while Round 2 remains postponed until further orders.

The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh has issued a major revision to UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 for MBBS and BDS admissions following an order of the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench dated 16 September 2026.

DGME has now published:

  • Revised Round-1 seat matrix

  • Revised Round-1 state merit list

  • Rescheduled Round-1 counselling timetable

  • UP NEET UG 2026 policy amendment

  • Separate notice postponing Round 2 until further orders

This means candidates should not follow the previously published Round-1/Round-2 timeline.

🔴 What Happened to the Earlier UP NEET UG Round 1?

The earlier Round-1 seat allotment was declared on 7 September 2026.

Under the revised DGME schedule, admissions/allotments made through that earlier process are being treated as invalid for the rescheduled Round 1.

A fresh Round-1 counselling/allotment process is now being conducted.

Most Important Point

Candidates cannot rely on their old Round-1 allotment or previously submitted choice order.

Eligible candidates who want to participate in the revised Round 1 must complete the fresh online choice filling and locking process within the new deadline.

Candidates who do not complete the required choice filling/locking within the revised schedule should not assume that their previous choices will automatically be considered.

⚖️ Why Was UP NEET UG Round 1 Reconducted?

The revision follows an order passed on 16 September 2026 by the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench.

The legal dispute concerns the reservation arrangement for State Quota MBBS seats in four Uttar Pradesh government medical colleges:

  • Government Medical College, Ambedkar Nagar

  • Government Medical College, Kannauj

  • Government Medical College, Jalaun

  • Government Medical College, Saharanpur

The court stayed the disputed reservation arrangement in these colleges and permitted counselling to proceed using the reservation framework applicable to other government medical colleges.

The dispute particularly concerned the unusually high reservation structure that had been applied to these four institutions.

Following the court order, the Uttar Pradesh government/DGME issued a policy amendment and published a revised seat matrix and revised merit list, requiring Round 1 to be processed again.

🏥 Why the Revised Seat Matrix Matters

This is not simply a change in counselling dates.

Because the reservation structure affecting the four government medical colleges has changed, the category-wise distribution of seats has also required revision.

Therefore candidates should review the new revised seat matrix before filling their fresh choices.

Students should not blindly copy their previous choice order.

A college that appeared more or less achievable under the old seat matrix may behave differently under the revised matrix.

Candidates should reconsider:

  • Government medical college preferences

  • Category-wise seat availability

  • College order

  • Safe vs ambitious choices

  • Private MBBS backup options

  • BDS backup options

  • Fee affordability

  • Bond/service conditions

  • Upgrade strategy

📊 What Happens to the Old Round-1 Cutoff?

The 7 September Round-1 allotment should no longer be treated as the final valid UP NEET UG 2026 Round-1 cutoff dataset for counselling prediction.

Since Round 1 is being processed again using:

  • a revised policy,

  • revised seat matrix,

  • revised merit list, and

  • fresh choice filling,

the meaningful 2026 Round-1 opening/closing ranks must be recalculated from the revised allotment result expected on 22 September.

Students using previous Round-1 closing ranks for prediction should therefore be very careful.

Hire Guide Education Data Update

Hire Guide Education will treat the earlier UP Round-1 allotment/cutoff as superseded for current counselling strategy and will analyse the revised allotment after the new result is released.

⏸️ What Happened to UP NEET UG Round 2?

DGME issued Notice No. ME-3/2026/1692 dated 17 September 2026, postponing the UP NEET UG 2026 Second Round of MBBS/BDS counselling until further orders.

The official postponement notice stated that Round 2 was being postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.

This is important:

Round 2 is POSTPONED — it has not been cancelled.

The earlier Round-2 schedule should therefore not be followed now.

Candidates who had already completed any Round-2 registration/payment steps should preserve:

  • Registration slip

  • Registration-fee receipt

  • Security-money receipt

  • Transaction records

  • Login credentials

Candidates should wait for DGME to clarify how previously completed Round-2 formalities will be treated when the revised Round-2 schedule is announced.

⚠️ Candidates Already Admitted Through Old Round 1

Candidates who had received a seat and completed admission under the earlier Round-1 allotment should not assume that the old allotment continues unchanged.

The revised DGME process requires Round 1 to be conducted again.

Such candidates should urgently:

  1. Check the revised State Merit List.

  2. Check the revised Seat Matrix.

  3. Log in to the UP NEET counselling portal.

  4. Complete fresh choice filling and locking.

  5. Download/save the final locked-choice list.

  6. Check the revised allotment result on 22 September.

  7. Follow the fresh allotment/admission instructions from DGME.

✅ What Every UP NEET UG Candidate Should Do Now

1. Check the Revised Merit List

Confirm your latest State Merit position/category status.

2. Study the Revised Seat Matrix

Do not use the old seat matrix for final strategy.

3. Fill Choices Again

Fresh Round-1 choice filling is active.

4. Lock Choices Before Deadline

Deadline: 21 September 2026 at 5:00 PM.

5. Save Proof

Download or screenshot your locked choices.

6. Check Revised Result

The fresh Round-1 allotment result is scheduled for 22 September 2026.

7. Be Ready for Admission

Revised admission/allotment-letter activity is scheduled for 23–26 September 2026.

🚫 Do Not Follow the Old Round-2 Schedule

Candidates may still find older Round-2 dates on websites, social media posts or screenshots.

Those dates have been superseded by the latest DGME developments.

Until DGME issues a fresh Round-2 programme:

🎯 Hire Guide Education Strategy Note

This development can materially change the counselling landscape because the seat matrix, category distribution and effective Round-1 cutoffs will be generated again.

Hire Guide Education recommends candidates make decisions using the revised seat matrix + revised merit list + fresh allotment, rather than depending on the cancelled/superseded Round-1 result.

Our data-driven counselling analysis will track:

  • Revised Government MBBS seats

  • Private MBBS seats

  • BDS seats

  • Category-wise seat distribution

  • Revised opening and closing ranks

  • College-wise cutoff movement

  • Government/private admission chances

  • Round-2 vacancy implications

  • Upgrade strategy after revised Round 1

This helps candidates identify their strongest eligible counselling routes instead of relying on outdated cutoff assumptions.
