Odisha BAMS/BHMS Counselling 2026 Round 1: Registration, Choice Locking and 430 Listed Seats

What has happened?

The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) has issued its Round 1 schedule and BAMS/BHMS counselling instructions. Registration and choice filling opened on 17 September 2026 at 5 PM. The official instructions list 430 seats to be filled through OJEE across BAMS and BHMS, including 19 private-college BAMS All India Quota (AIQ) seats. This is AYUSH counselling, separate from MBBS/BDS.

Important dates and candidate actions

Activity: Round 1 registration and choice filling

  • Opened: 17 September 2026, 5:00 PM
  • Closes: 23 September 2026, 11:59 PM
  • Action: Register, pay the prescribed registration fee, arrange preferences and confirm saved choices

Activity: Mock allotment

  • Scheduled: 21 September 2026, 5:00 PM
  • Action: Review as a guide, not a final offer; the schedule has an inconsistent earlier “as on” reference, so follow current portal instructions

Activity: Choice locking

  • Opens: 22 September 2026, 11:00 AM
  • Closes: 23 September 2026, 11:59 PM
  • Action: Lock only after checking the final order. Official instructions say the last filled choices auto-lock at closing if not manually locked; manual locking cannot be undone.

Activity: Provisional Round 1 allotment letter

  • Scheduled: 25 September 2026, 5:00 PM

Activity: Physical provisional admission at OJEE Office, Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar

  • Window: 28 September 2026, 10:30 AM to 29 September 2026, 5:00 PM
  • Action: If allotted, follow fee, freeze/float and document-verification instructions

Data Analysis — official listed seat position, not a live vacancy count

OJEE's counselling instructions give total institutional intake 486 (BAMS 348 plus BHMS 138). Of these, 430 are listed for filling by OJEE in the BAMS/BHMS routes below; do not call 486 “available choices” or treat 430 as a current unfilled-vacancy matrix.

Course: BAMS

  • Government state-quota seats: 191 across three colleges (63 + 64 + 64)
  • Private state-quota seats: 104 across two colleges (48 + 56)
  • Private AIQ seats: 19 across those two colleges (9 + 10)
  • Total listed through OJEE: 314
  • Institutional intake: 348

Course: BHMS

  • Government state-quota seats: 116 across four colleges (53 + 21 + 21 + 21)
  • Private seats in this instruction's seat table: None listed
  • Total listed through OJEE: 116
  • Institutional intake: 138

Check: 191 + 104 + 19 = 314 BAMS; 314 + 116 = 430 OJEE-listed seats. State-quota total is 411 (295 BAMS + 116 BHMS), with 19 BAMS AIQ seats shown separately.

Seat-route mix (chart; each block approximately 20 seats, exact numbers shown):

  • BAMS state quota — 295 (68.6%): ███████████████
  • BHMS state quota — 116 (27.0%): ██████
  • BAMS private AIQ — 19 (4.4%): █

Denominator: 430 OJEE-listed BAMS/BHMS seats in the official instructions; the bars are rounded visuals, not category-wise vacancies. BAMS offers more listed seats, but course preference, cost, domicile/eligibility and college choice matter more than the overall total.

Eligibility, fees and important rules

For state quota, the instructions require Odisha nativity of the candidate's parents and the specified resident/nativity certificate. For AIQ seats in the two named private Ayurvedic colleges, the instructions say no domicile certificate is needed. Check the detailed eligibility and NEET UG qualification provisions in the official document.

  • Registration fee: ₹1,000 online, non-refundable.
  • If provisionally allotted: ₹5,000 part-admission fee plus ₹3,500 university registration fee, totalling ₹8,500 online, followed by any applicable differential amount at the institute.
  • College tuition: The instruction says candidates should confirm it with each college; it does not publish an authenticated complete college-fee table. Do not assume ₹8,500 is the full course fee.
  • Reporting: Allotted candidates must complete online fee payment, freeze/float choice and physical verification at OJEE Cell as instructed, or the temporary allotment may be cancelled.
  • Reservation: Keep vertical categories and horizontal claims, including PwBD and Ex-Servicemen, separately verified. Those claiming special categories must follow their own official assessment board notices.

Hire Guide Education strategy

Build choices in genuine preference order after checking course fit, eligibility, fees and location. Use the mock allotment to review, not to assume a seat. Save and lock only your final list. MBBS/BDS choices do not substitute for this separate AYUSH registration. An allotment depends on rank, eligibility, quota, choices, vacancies and round movement, not on total seats alone; no admission is guaranteed.
