MCC NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Freeze Candidates — Resignation Window Open

The Medical Counselling Committee has issued Notice No. 21 dated 12 September 2026 opening a special Resignation / Seat Withdrawal facility for candidates who:

• were allotted a seat in MCC Round 1;
• selected / remained under FREEZE status;
• already joined the allotted Round-1 seat;
• now want to resign or withdraw from that joined seat.

Who Is Covered by This Notice?

This facility specifically applies to:

Round-1 FREEZE candidates

who had already joined the seat allotted to them through MCC counselling and now wish to resign / withdraw.

This should not be interpreted as a general resignation notice for every MCC candidate irrespective of round or status.

Resignation Window

Eligible candidates can resign from:

12 September 2026 — 4:00 PM

until:

15 September 2026 — 6:00 PM

If the resignation is completed correctly within this official window:

Security Deposit Will Not Be Forfeited

What Happens After 15 September 6 PM?

MCC explicitly states that resignation after:

15 September 2026 — 6:00 PM

will be:

WITH FORFEITURE OF SECURITY DEPOSIT

Therefore candidates who have already decided to leave their Round-1 frozen seat should not unnecessarily delay action beyond the official no-forfeiture window.

Physical Reporting Is Mandatory

Candidates cannot simply assume that cancelling from their own portal is enough.

MCC states that a Round-1 candidate wishing to resign must:

Physically Report to the Allotted Institute

and complete the prescribed resignation process through the institute.

Online-Generated Resignation Letter Is Essential

This is one of the most important instructions in the notice.

The Nodal Officer of the admitted institute must generate the candidate's:

• Resignation Letter; or
• Seat Withdrawal Slip

through the official MCC portal.

MCC clearly states that if this online document is not generated:

THE RESIGNATION WILL BE TREATED AS NULL & VOID

Therefore candidates should not leave the institute only with a handwritten application, receipt or verbal confirmation.

Before leaving, obtain proof that the resignation has been processed through the MCC system.

Eligible Round-1 Freeze candidates who want to resign should:

1. Confirm that they genuinely want to leave the MCC Round-1 joined seat.
2. Visit the allotted institute physically.
3. Carry the relevant allotment/admission documents and identification.
4. Request formal MCC resignation/seat withdrawal.
5. Ensure the institute's Nodal Officer processes the resignation through the MCC portal.
6. Obtain the online-generated Resignation Letter / Seat Withdrawal Slip.
7. Verify that candidate and college details are correct.
8. Preserve a copy of the document permanently.
9. Complete the process before 15 September 2026 at 6:00 PM if avoiding security-deposit forfeiture is important.

Do Not Confuse This With Round 2 Result Status

This resignation notice is a separate candidate-action event.

MCC Round-2 currently remains at:

and:

Final Round-2 Result Awaited

Therefore HGE should maintain two separate dashboard items:

Round 2

Revised Provisional Result — Final Result Awaited

Round 1 Freeze Candidates

Resignation / Seat Withdrawal — Active Till 15 Sep 6 PM

Do not merge these two stages.

This notice can also affect future vacancy calculations.

Seats vacated through eligible Round-1 Freeze resignations can affect subsequent counselling availability according to MCC processing rules.

However HGE should not automatically add each resigned seat to any future vacancy matrix until MCC officially publishes the applicable vacancy position.
