NBEMS has published the FNB 2025 Final Mop-Up indicative seat matrix with 260 positions across 29 specialties. Eligible candidates must submit choices by 21 September 2026, 5 PM IST.
NBEMS FNB Final Mop-Up Seat Matrix 2025: 260 Positions Across 29 Specialties
NBEMS has published the indicative seat matrix for the Final Mop-Up Round of FNB 2025 counselling. HGE’s extraction of the official eight-page matrix finds 260 listed positions across 168 hospital-specialty rows, 133 institutions and 29 specialties.
Choice filling closes on 21 September 2026 at 5:00 PM IST.
This FNB counselling event is separate from NEET PG 2026 MD/MS/DNB counselling.
What Has Changed?
The Final Mop-Up schedule was released on 15 September. The hospital-and-specialty matrix was subsequently published on 18 September 2026, giving candidates the actual options available for this round.
The earlier Round-2 indicative matrix contained 684 listed positions. The Final Mop-Up matrix contains 260, which is 424 fewer positions between the two official snapshots.
Important: Do not interpret the 424-position difference as an official withdrawal figure. NBEMS has not stated that all of this movement represents withdrawals.

- Trauma & Acute Care Surgery: 12
- Arthroplasty: 9
- Renal Transplant: 8
- Trauma Anaesthesia & Critical Care: 8
- Vitreo Retinal Surgery: 8
- Transplant Anaesthesia: 6
- Spine Surgery: 5
The remaining specialties have one to four listed positions each.

- State Government institutions: 26 positions
- Defence Services: 3 positions
- ESI Hospital: 2 positions
- Central Government Hospital: 1 position
- Railway Hospital: 1 position
The matrix is heavily private-sector, so candidates should verify the applicable FNB course fee, stipend, accommodation, bond or service terms directly from NBEMS and the hospital before accepting a choice.
Practical Choice-Filling Guidance
- Download and review the official Final Mop-Up matrix.
- Shortlist only specialty-hospital combinations you are genuinely prepared to join.
- Check hospital case load, procedural exposure, faculty, ICU/emergency support and academic structure.
- Confirm official fee, stipend, accommodation and contractual conditions.
- Arrange choices in genuine preference order.
- Submit and recheck choices before 21 September 2026, 5:00 PM IST.
- Preserve confirmation screenshots or PDFs.
- If allotted, remember that the notified joining period ends on 1 October 2026 and non-joining can lead to loss of the seat and forfeiture of the first-year course fee under the notified round rules.
FNB Hospital Decision Intelligence
Seat count alone should not decide the order. For interventional, surgical and transplantation-focused FNB programmes, compare procedure volume, supervised hands-on exposure, emergency coverage, ICU access and department-specific training. For paediatric and oncology programmes, examine referral load, multidisciplinary support and the range of cases handled.
A private hospital with strong specialty volume may suit one candidate, while a government institution with broader emergency exposure may suit another. FNB decisions are hospital- and specialty-specific.

The document is titled an indicative seat matrix. Availability can still be subject to NBEMS rules and any later official revision. Previous round availability does not guarantee allotment. Outcomes depend on merit, eligibility, the active matrix, choice order and other candidates’ preferences.
