MCC NEET UG 2026 Round 2 Seat Matrix Out: 520 New MBBS/BDS Seats + Clear & Virtual Vacancies

MCC has released the Round 2 newly-added, clear-vacancy and virtual-vacancy matrices. The newly-added list contributes 395 MBBS + 125 BDS = 520 fresh MBBS/BDS seats, including major Deemed University additions. Candidates should rebuild Round 2 choices using these matrices instead of relying only on Round 1 vacancies.

Newly Added Seats โ€” Exact MBBS/BDS Analysis

MCC's newly-added matrix contains 659 seats overall.

However, this document also includes B.Sc Nursing.

After keeping Nursing separate:

MBBS

395 newly added seats

BDS

125 newly added seats

MBBS + BDS

520 newly added seats

The balance belongs to the separately tracked B.Sc Nursing route.

Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Institute of Medical Sciences, Tamil Nadu

50 MBBS Self-Financed Merit seats

J R Medical College & Hospital, Tamil Nadu

Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences, Tamil Nadu

150 MBBS Self-Financed Merit seats

This is one of the largest single Round 2 additions in the current matrix.

Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences, Uttarakhand

Total newly added MBBS:

50 seats

Split as:

  • NRI: 8
  • Self-Financed Merit: 42

This quota distinction is important.

Do not merge these 50 seats into one generic Deemed quota.

Newly Added BDS Seats

Government Dental College & Hospital, Ahmedabad

18 AIQ BDS seats

Distribution:

  • OBC: 5
  • EWS: 2
  • OPEN: 7
  • SC: 2

Government Dental College, Thrissur

7 AIQ BDS seats

The matrix includes category-wise BDS seats across OBC, EWS, OPEN, SC and PwD-linked reservation.

Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, Tamil Nadu

100 BDS Self-Financed Merit seats

This is the largest BDS addition in the newly-added matrix.

Newly Added Seat Summary

RouteMBBSBDS
Government/AIQ additions4525
Deemed / Self-Financed / NRI additions350100
Total395125

Grand Total MBBS+BDS: 520

Why This Is Important for Round 2

These seats were not part of the original Round 1 opportunity pool in the same way.

Fresh seat additions can materially affect:

  • Deemed University closing ranks
  • lower-rank MBBS opportunities
  • upgrade chances
  • Round 2 BDS availability
  • AIQ competition at newly added Government seats

Candidates who built choices only using the Round 1 matrix should now revise them.

Clear Vacancy vs Virtual Vacancy โ€” Understand the Difference

MCC has separately released:

Clear Vacancy

These are seats already available for Round 2 allotment based on the counselling status recorded by MCC.

The published combined PDF shows:

11,302 seats overall

But this includes:

  • MBBS
  • BDS
  • B.Sc Nursing

Therefore:

โš ๏ธ Do not publish โ€œ11,302 MBBS/BDS vacancies.โ€

HGE should extract MBBS and BDS separately before using that figure in predictor or student-facing admission probability.

Virtual Vacancy

MCC has also published the Round 2 Virtual Vacancy matrix.

Combined total shown:

12,283

Again, this includes MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing.

A virtual vacancy generally represents a seat that may become available depending on the movement/upgradation of an already joined candidate.

It should therefore not be interpreted as a guaranteed vacant seat.

Clear vs Virtual Vacancy โ€” Student Example

Suppose a candidate currently holds College A but seeks upgrade to College B.

The seat at College A can appear as a virtual vacancy.

It becomes an actual available seat only if the candidate successfully moves out under the allotment process.

Therefore:

Clear Vacancy = stronger confirmed availability signal

Virtual Vacancy = potential vacancy generated by candidate movement

Both should be considered during choice filling.

AIIMS & ESIC Opportunities Also Present

The vacancy documents continue to show institution-specific availability within:

  • AIIMS Open Seat Quota
  • ESIC All India seats
  • ESIC Insured Person quota
  • regular AIQ Government MBBS

For example, the Clear Vacancy matrix includes seats at institutions such as:

  • AIIMS Kalyani
  • ESIC Medical College Joka
  • multiple Government Medical Colleges

These should be kept separate during HGE cutoff and seat-matrix normalization.

Category Mapping for HGE

MCC codes in these files should be normalized carefully:

  • OP NO โ†’ OPEN
  • OP PH โ†’ OPEN + PwD
  • BC NO โ†’ OBC
  • BC PH โ†’ OBC + PwD
  • EW NO โ†’ EWS
  • EW PH โ†’ EWS + PwD
  • SC NO โ†’ SC
  • SC PH โ†’ SC + PwD
  • ST NO โ†’ ST
  • ST PH โ†’ ST + PwD

PwD remains a horizontal reservation.

Do not create a replacement vertical category such as OBC-PwD.

Store:

Vertical Category = OBC

Horizontal Reservation = PwD

Quota Mapping

Keep the following MCC routes separate:

  • AIQ
  • AIIMS Open Seat
  • Deemed Self-Financed Merit
  • Deemed NRI
  • ESIC All India
  • ESIC IP / Insured Person
  • Central University / Institutional routes where applicable

Do not normalize all of these as simply โ€œAIQ.โ€

Round 2 Choice Filling Strategy

This new matrix changes the choice-filling strategy.

Candidates should now combine:

2026 Round 1 Closing Rank + Clear Vacancy + Virtual Vacancy + Newly Added Seats + Category / Quota + Fees + True College Preference

Biggest Practical Opportunity

The strongest numerical addition is currently in the Deemed MBBS segment.

Examples include:

  • Karpaga Vinayaga IMS โ€” 150
  • Aarupadai Veedu โ€” 50
  • Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan โ€” 50
  • J R Medical College โ€” 50
  • Graphic Era โ€” 50

This can potentially create additional movement in Deemed MBBS closing ranks during Round 2.

But this does not guarantee a lower cutoff.

Actual Round 2 closing ranks will depend on choice behaviour and candidate movement.

BDS Opportunity

New BDS capacity includes:

  • 100 seats at Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences
  • 18 AIQ seats at Government Dental College Ahmedabad
  • 7 AIQ seats at Government Dental College Thrissur

Candidates considering BDS should therefore re-open their choice list rather than relying on the Round 1 BDS matrix.

Student Action Checklist

  1. Open all three MCC Round 2 vacancy documents.
  2. Identify newly added colleges relevant to your course.
  3. Separate MBBS and BDS from B.Sc Nursing.
  4. Separate Clear Vacancy from Virtual Vacancy.
  5. Check category-specific availability.
  6. Check AIQ vs Deemed vs NRI vs ESIC quota.
  7. Add newly available colleges to your choices where genuinely preferred.
  8. Do not delete dream choices merely because vacancies appear low.
  9. Use Round 1 closing ranks only as a reference โ€” not a guarantee.
  10. Recheck MCC for seat additions/withdrawals before locking choices.

Hire Guide Education Analysis

The key Round 2 change is not merely that a vacancy matrix has appeared.

MCC has added 520 fresh MBBS/BDS seats, with 395 MBBS and 125 BDS.

A large share of new MBBS capacity is in Deemed Universities, while new AIQ Government MBBS and Government BDS seats have also been added.

Round 2 choice lists should therefore be reviewed again before locking.
