Rajasthan NEET UG 2026 Round 3 Seat Matrix Out: 3,490 Seats Vacant, Choice Filling Open & Virtual Vacancy Strategy Issued
The Office of the Chairman, NEET UG Medical & Dental Admission/Counselling Board-2026, SMS Medical College, Jaipur, has officially released the Round 3 Vacant Seat Matrix and initiated the online choice filling and security deposit process for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses across Rajasthan.
Published on 23 September 2026, the official seat matrix confirms a total of 3,490 state quota vacancies (3,023 MBBS seats and 467 BDS seats) across 148 college entries. Online choice filling opened on 24 September 2026 and will remain active until auto-locking at 11:45 PM IST on 07 October 2026.
Key Highlights & Critical Board Advisory on Virtual Vacancies
In a vital advisory published alongside the seat matrix, the Counselling Board explicitly cautioned candidates against making the common mistake of only selecting colleges showing real vacancies:
*"The projected seat matrix after allotment and joining of Round-2 is reflecting only real vacancies. However, virtual vacancies may arise and convert to real vacancies during allotment process and vacancies may also arise due to resignation after Round 3 result of MCC. Candidates are advised to fill choices considering both real and virtual vacancies. (Please fill choices as per seat matrix of Round 1)"*
Why Virtual Vacancies Matter
A virtual vacancy is a seat currently occupied by a candidate who has opted for upgradation in Round 3. When that candidate secures a higher preference during algorithmic seat allocation, their vacated seat immediately becomes available for the next eligible candidate in the merit order. Candidates who only list the 3,490 printed real vacancies will miss out on upgraded government and premier private seats that open up dynamically during processing.
Detailed Breakdown of Vacant Seats (Round 3)
Compared to the revised Round 2 seat matrix, Round 3 opens with 843 fewer MBBS seats and 339 fewer BDS seats, reflecting heavy absorption of government quotas:
| Institution & Quota Type | Round 2 Vacancy | Round 3 Vacancy | Net Change | Strategic Candidate Takeaway |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Government Medical Colleges (MBBS) | 696 | 155 | -541 | Intense competition; only 155 real seats left across state GMCs. |
| RUHS CMS & RAJMES Management (MBBS) | 142 | 55 | -87 | Society management quota seats under government fees/subsidies. |
| NRI Quota MBBS (Govt & Private) | 352 | 317 | -35 | High availability across both government societies and private colleges. |
| Private Medical Colleges (MBBS General) | 2,239 | 2,061 | -178 | Constitutes over two-thirds of remaining MBBS seats; fee considerations paramount. |
| Private Medical Colleges (MBBS Management) | 437 | 435 | -2 | Static seat pool with high annual tuition structures. |
| Government Dental Colleges (BDS) | 32 | 19 | -13 | Limited government BDS seats at RUHS CDS. |
| Private Dental Colleges (BDS General) | 671 | 377 | -294 | Substantial BDS seats available at moderate cutoffs. |
| Private Dental Colleges (BDS Management) | 103 | 71 | -32 | Open private management dental seats. |
| TOTAL VACANCIES | 4,672 | 3,490 | -1,182 | 3,023 MBBS + 467 BDS across Rajasthan. |
*Clarification on PwBD Matrix:* The separate PwBD/PwD seat matrix listing 106 seats (57 in Government Colleges and 49 in RUHS CMS / RAJMES) is already included inside the 3,490 total. It must not be added again.
Security Deposit Slabs for Choice Filling
To unlock choices on the candidate portal, candidates must deposit or top-up the mandatory security fee between 24 September and 07 October 2026:

Who Must Fill Fresh Choices?
All preferences submitted in Round 1 and Round 2 are null and void. Fresh choice filling is mandatory for:
- Registered candidates who received no allotment in Round 1 or Round 2.
- Candidates holding a joined seat from earlier rounds who wish to upgrade.
- Candidates who resigned their Round 1 seat within the permitted free exit window (by 16 September 2026).
- Newly registered candidates in Round 3.
- Non-domicile candidates (considered under Clause XI after state merit is exhausted).
*Note:* Candidates holding an admitted seat who do not wish to upgrade should not fill choices, thereby preserving their existing admission.
Strategic Guidance from Hire Guide Education
- Draft Choices from the Complete Round 1 Roster: Do not restrict your choice list to the 155 government vacancies. Place all preferred government medical colleges at the top of your list in true merit order, followed by RAJMES management seats, followed by private colleges matching your budget.
- Strict Upgradation Clause: If you are allotted a new college in Round 3, your earlier seat is cancelled automatically and cannot be retrieved. Ensure every college above your current seat is genuinely preferable.
- Budgetary Diligence: Verify annual fee escalation, hostel requirements, and bank guarantees before selecting private medical colleges.
