Puducherry NEET UG 2026: CENTAC lists 232 MBBS and 131 BDS vacancies after Round 2
Official update · 22 September 2026 · Puducherry CENTAC · MBBS/BDS
CENTAC has published its post–Round 2 vacancy list for NEET UG 2026–27. Our sum of the official course-and-quota rows is 232 MBBS and 131 BDS listed vacancies (363 combined). These are vacancies at the time of the list, not newly approved seats or a confirmed next-round allotment.
What candidates should do: Check your eligible course, quota, region and college against the official PDF. Watch the CENTAC UG-NEET dashboard for a separate notice on the next round, eligibility, registration, choice editing and deadlines. This vacancy PDF itself does not set a next-round action deadline.
At a glance: post–Round 2 vacancies
Quota in CENTAC PDF | MBBS | BDS | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
Government quota (GQ) | 12 | 44 | Use the specified Puducherry/Karaikal/Mahe/Yanam region and vertical category. |
Telugu-minority management quota (MQT) | 113 | 50 | Separate minority earmarking; not general management vacancies. |
Management quota (MQ) | 11 | 32 | Shown as AGE in the PDF; check eligibility and fees. |
NRI quota | 96 | 5 | Shown as NRI/NRISP/OCI; check documentation and fees. |
Reconciled listed total | 232 | 131 | 363 MBBS+BDS; GQ horizontal columns are not additional seats. |
Check: MBBS 12 + 113 + 11 + 96 = 232; BDS 44 + 50 + 32 + 5 = 131. In the government-quota rows, our totals use the PDF’s Total vertical-category column; its Govt, PwD, FF, ESM and MSP horizontal columns must not be added again. CENTAC explicitly warns against treating horizontal reservations as extra vacancies.
What changed from the revised post–Round 1 list?
Course | 9 Sep: after Round 1 | 22 Sep: after Round 2 | Net change in listed vacancies |
|---|---|---|---|
MBBS | 577 | 232 | −345 |
BDS | 267 | 131 | −136 |
MBBS + BDS | 844 | 363 | −481 |
The 9 September baseline is CENTAC’s revised post–Round 1 PDF, not the superseded 8 September file. The net fall in listed vacancies must not be reported as 481 admissions: seat movements, category/region handling and later changes can affect the two snapshots. The earlier PDF separately flagged four seats withheld pending W.A. No. 2674 of 2026; the new PDF does not explain the legal status of those four. We therefore do not count them as an additional four available seats or infer a court outcome.
Where MBBS/BDS opportunities remain
MBBS GQ: IGMC&RI 5; PIMS 1; SMVMC&H 2; SVMC&RI 4 (12 total). BDS GQ: MGPGIDS 11; MINDS 22; SVDC 11 (44 total). These are sums of region/category rows and do not erase the underlying eligibility earmarks. MBBS NRI vacancies are IGMC&RI 8, PIMS 16, SMVMC&H 35 and SVMC&RI 37. The large Telugu-minority management figure at SVMC&RI is 113 MBBS, while SVDC lists 50 BDS under that minority quota; neither should be treated as open-category GQ.
Other routes in the same CENTAC PDF
BAMS: RGAMC shows 22 government-quota listed vacancies, counted separately from MBBS/BDS. Veterinary BVSc&AH: RIVER shows one National SS and two NRI listed vacancies, a separate route with its own fee/eligibility checks. These three are not part of the 363 MBBS+BDS figure. The PDF does not provide a next-round timetable for any of these routes.
Practical choice strategy and limits
Rank colleges according to genuine preferences after checking quota eligibility, regional category, minority/NRI status, current fee orders and official reporting rules. A posted vacancy is a snapshot, not a promise that a candidate will be eligible, that the seat will remain available, or that an allotment will follow. Wait for CENTAC’s next official participation and choice-filling instructions; do not assume Round 2 choices carry forward.
