💰 Major Fee Update: Kerala Government has ordered that MBBS tuition/course fees can be charged only for the 4.5-year academic duration (54 months).

This is an important update for students planning MBBS admission in Kerala Government and Self-Financing Medical Colleges.
The Kerala Government has issued a revised order in line with directions from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
What Changed
The MBBS course consists of:
- 4.5 years / 54 months of academic study
- Followed by 1 year of Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI)
The revised order states that colleges should collect MBBS course fees only for the prescribed academic period of 4.5 years.

This order applies to students studying or taking admission in:
- Kerala Government Medical Colleges
- Kerala Self-Financing Medical Colleges

What About Self-Financing College Fees?
The Kerala Fee Regulatory Committee for Medical Education has been directed to take the necessary steps for fixing the fee structure of Self-Financing Medical Colleges in accordance with the NMC directions.
This means students should still check the college-wise annual tuition fee separately once the final applicable fee structure is published.
What About Previous Excess Fees?
The government order also discusses excess fees collected earlier.
However, the refund of any such excess amount will depend on the final judgment of the Kerala High Court in the pending case referred to in the government order.
⚠️ Important: Do not interpret this order as an immediate confirmed refund for every past student. The refund question remains linked to the final court outcome.
What Students Should Do Now
- Keep this rule in mind while calculating the total MBBS course budget for Kerala.
- Do not multiply an annual tuition fee by 5.5 years without checking the applicable official fee rule.
- Check the final college-wise fee structure before choice filling.
