Who Is Affected

  • New candidates who are eligible but not already included in the 7 September State Merit List
  • Registered candidates who need to edit their application
  • Round 1 or Round 2 admitted candidates seeking an upgrade in Round 3
  • Candidates targeting State Quota MBBS/BDS seats
  • Candidates eligible for the notified All India or NRI seats in the named private colleges
  • BHMS candidates using the State Quota route under the same schedule

Important Upgradation Rules

  • Candidates admitted through Round 1 or Round 2 may participate in Round 3 for a course or institute upgrade.
  • If a candidate receives a new Round 3 allotment, joining the newly allotted course and institute becomes mandatory.
  • The earlier admission will automatically stand cancelled after re-allotment.
  • Upgradation of course and institute is available only up to Round 3.
  • An admitted candidate may also be upgraded to a different category or quota depending on actual vacancy and merit.
  • Candidates already listed in the State Merit List of 7 September do not need to submit the application again.

State-to-AIQ Resignation Rule

A candidate admitted to a Round 2 State Quota seat who receives and wants to join an AIQ Round 3 seat must surrender the State Quota seat and submit resignation to the admitting institute by 3 October 2026.

The notice states that the candidate's security money will be forfeited in this situation.

What Candidates Should Do Now

  1. Identify whether you are applying through State Quota, the notified All India route or NRI quota.
  2. If you are a new State Quota candidate, complete the online application by 24 September at 6:00 PM.
  3. If already present in the 7 September State Merit List, do not submit a duplicate application.
  4. Use the editing window on 24 September only if a submitted detail needs correction.
  5. Check the 25 September merit list and vacancy matrix.
  6. Prepare a college preference list before choice filling opens on 28 September.
  7. Recheck any revised matrix published on 5 October.
  8. Save choices before 7 October at 6:00 PM and use the editing window carefully.
  9. Preserve application, payment and choice-filling acknowledgements.

Hire Guide Education Analysis

The revision gives candidates more time, but it also creates a long choice-filling window that overlaps with national counselling movement. The possible revised vacancy matrix on 5 October is strategically important because surrendered State Quota seats may change realistic college options.

Candidates should not copy their previous preference order blindly. Compare the final vacancies, fees, institutional status, quota eligibility, location and the consequence of mandatory joining after an upgrade.

Admission depends on rank, category, quota, eligibility, submitted choices, vacancies and round movement. No allotment can be guaranteed.

Common Mistakes

  • Reapplying even though the candidate is already in the 7 September State Merit List
  • Mixing State Quota dates with the separate All India/NRI route
  • Ignoring the application editing window
  • Filling choices before studying the 25 September vacancy matrix
  • Missing the possible revised matrix on 5 October
  • Seeking an upgrade without understanding that the earlier seat will automatically be cancelled after re-allotment
  • Assuming security money will be protected when surrendering a Round 2 State seat for an AIQ Round 3 seat
