What Has Been Released?
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has published the institute-wise and specialty-wise FNB Round 2 seat matrix for the 2025 admission session.
The matrix shows:
- Seats offered in Round 1
- Seats accepted and frozen
- Candidates opting for upgrade
- Rejected seats
- True vacancies for Round 2
- Virtual vacancies for Round 2
Who Can Participate?
Round 2 is for eligible candidates who had already registered for NBEMS FNB counselling.
📌 No fresh registration is allowed in Round 2.
No fresh first-year course-fee payment is required during this round.

Fresh Choices Are Mandatory
Candidates must submit fresh choices for Round 2.
Do not assume that choices submitted during Round 1 will automatically remain active.
True Vacancy vs Virtual Vacancy
True Vacancy
A true vacancy is a seat that is presently available for allotment in Round 2.
This may include:
- Unallotted Round 1 seats
- Rejected seats
- Seats vacated after Round 1
Virtual Vacancy
A virtual vacancy is currently held by a Round 1 candidate who has opted for upgrade.
It becomes available only if that candidate receives an upgraded seat.
⚠️ A virtual vacancy is not guaranteed to become finally available.
What Candidates Should Do Now
- Download the official seat matrix.
- Shortlist specialties according to eligibility and career goals.
- Review true and virtual vacancies separately.
- Check each hospital’s stipend, bond, fees and location.
- Arrange choices in the exact order of preference.
- Submit and save fresh choices before 30 July, 5:00 PM.
- Download or screenshot the final submitted-choice page.
- Check the Round 2 result on 3 August 2026.
Important Rule for Upgrade Candidates
Candidates who accepted a Round 1 seat and selected Upgrade will be considered for higher choices in Round 2.
If no upgraded seat is allotted:
- The Round 1 seat will be re-allotted.
- The candidate must join that seat within the prescribed timeline.
⚠️ Place a new option above your existing seat only when you genuinely prefer it.
Round 2 Result and Joining
The Round 2 allotment result is scheduled for:
3 August 2026
Selected candidates must complete physical joining between:
3–10 August 2026, up to 5:00 PM
Candidates should keep original documents, allotment letter and hospital-specific undertakings ready.
