MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Resignation Reopened for Round 1 & 2 — Freeze/Float Seat Withdrawal Till 18 September 6 PM

MCC has reopened NEET UG Counselling 2026 resignation/seat withdrawal for eligible Round 1 and Round 2 Freeze/Float candidates from 17 September 3:30 PM to 18 September 6:00 PM. Security deposit will be forfeited.

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Resignation Window REOPENED

🚨 NEW OFFICIAL UPDATE: MCC has once again opened resignation / seat withdrawal for eligible Round 1 and Round 2 FREEZE/FLOAT candidates.

The Medical Counselling Committee has issued:

Notice No. 23 Reference: U-11011/07/2026-MEC Date: 17 September 2026

This is an important fresh opportunity for candidates who accepted an MCC Round 1 or Round 2 seat but now want to leave that seat.

Exact Resignation Window

Opens

17 September 2026 — 3:30 PM

Closes

18 September 2026 — 6:00 PM

🚨 This is a short-duration window. Eligible candidates planning to leave their MCC seat should not wait until the final hour.

Who Can Use This Facility?

MCC has allowed the facility for eligible:

  • Round 1 FREEZE candidates
  • Round 1 FLOAT candidates
  • Round 2 FREEZE candidates
  • Round 2 FLOAT candidates who were NOT upgraded

who had accepted/joined an MCC-allotted seat and now wish to resign or withdraw.

Important

MCC specifically refers to:

FLOAT candidates — not upgraded

Therefore, candidates should not assume every upgraded candidate is covered by this notice.

Security Deposit Will Be Forfeited

This is not a free-exit resignation.

MCC clearly states:

Resignation / withdrawal will be WITH FORFEITURE OF SECURITY DEPOSIT.

Candidates should consider this financial consequence before completing withdrawal.

FREEZE Candidates — Physical Reporting Required

Candidates who selected FREEZE and now want to resign/withdraw must:

Physically report to the allotted institute

to complete the resignation process.

Do not assume that simply stopping attendance or informing the college verbally constitutes a valid MCC resignation.

FLOAT Candidates — Online Withdrawal Required

Eligible FLOAT candidates who were not upgraded must:

  1. Log in to their MCC account.
  2. Complete the seat resignation/withdrawal process.
  3. Generate the official Seat Withdrawal Slip online.

⚠️ If the Seat Withdrawal Slip is not generated through the MCC system, MCC says the resignation will be treated as NULL & VOID.

Save the generated slip safely.

Resignation Letter / Withdrawal Slip Is Essential

MCC specifically instructs candidates to ensure that the:

  • Resignation Letter, or
  • Seat Withdrawal Slip

is generated online through the MCC portal.

Without the system-generated document, the resignation may not be considered valid.

What Happens After You Resign?

Once the candidate resigns or withdraws the allotted seat:

The candidate has NO CLAIM over that resigned seat.

This means withdrawal should be treated as a final decision regarding that particular allotted seat.

Do not resign merely because you expect a better seat unless you understand the counselling rules and risk involved.

Why Has MCC Reopened the Window?

MCC states that it has received many requests from NEET UG 2026 candidates seeking resignation.

The competent authority has therefore once again allowed eligible Round 1 and Round 2 Freeze/Float candidates to withdraw.

Who Should Be Especially Careful?

Candidates should review their situation carefully if they:

  • already joined an MCC Round 1 seat,
  • joined an MCC Round 2 seat,
  • selected FREEZE,
  • selected FLOAT but were not upgraded,
  • received another admission opportunity,
  • intend to leave medical/dental counselling,
  • are considering another counselling route.

Before withdrawing, understand:

Current Seat + Security Deposit Loss + Eligibility for Future Rounds + Other Counselling Position + Admission Risk

What Students Should Do Now

  1. Confirm whether you are an eligible Freeze / Float-not-upgraded candidate.
  2. Decide whether you genuinely want to surrender the MCC seat.
  3. Understand that the security deposit will be forfeited.
  4. FREEZE candidates should contact/report to the allotted institute.
  5. Eligible FLOAT candidates should log in to the MCC portal.
  6. Complete the official resignation/seat-withdrawal process.
  7. Generate the online Resignation Letter / Seat Withdrawal Slip.
  8. Download and preserve the document.
  9. Complete everything before 18 September 2026, 6:00 PM.
  10. Do not assume verbal/email resignation is sufficient.

🚨 Deadline: 18 September 2026 — 6:00 PM.

Hire Guide Education Advice

Resignation is not simply a college-preference decision.

Before leaving an allotted MBBS/BDS seat, compare:

Current Confirmed Seat + Alternative Admission + Future Round Eligibility + Security Deposit Loss + College Fee Consequences + Counselling Rules

Never surrender a confirmed seat purely on an assumed future cutoff movement.
