Fresh registration and payment rules
The official schedule provides a fresh registration and payment window. The MCC 2026 Information Bulletin also confirms that fresh registration and fresh choice filling are available for a Stray Vacancy Round.
Candidates who never registered earlier
Eligible NEET UG 2026 candidates may use the fresh registration facility when the portal opens, subject to MCC’s eligibility check and the available course or quota.
Registration alone does not place a candidate in the allotment process. The candidate must:
Complete registration.
Pay the applicable registration fee and security deposit.
Fill fresh choices.
Save the choices.
Lock the final choice list within the scheduled window.
Candidates already registered with MCC
Previously registered candidates must log in when the Special Stray window opens and check the status shown in their account.
Do not assume that choices submitted in an earlier round will automatically carry forward. Candidates must fill the choices available for this round and complete every portal step shown in their login.
The schedule PDF does not state that every previously registered candidate must pay the full amount again. Follow the payment status and instructions shown in the MCC account.
Who is not eligible under the current MCC Stray Vacancy rules?
According to the MCC NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin, the following candidates are not eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round:
A candidate who does not register for the Stray Vacancy Round.
A candidate who is joined to or holding a seat at the time of the Stray Vacancy Round.
A candidate who received an MCC Round 3 seat but did not report.
MCC shares allotment and joining data with State counselling authorities. A candidate holding a seat through either MCC or a State authority must not assume eligibility merely because the registration link is visible.
MCC may also publish an updated ineligible or “weeding-out” list for the Special Stray Round. Portal acceptance and MCC’s final eligibility data will govern participation.
Who may have another opportunity?
Subject to MCC’s portal validation and any later Special Stray rule notice, this round may help:
NEET UG 2026-qualified candidates who have not secured or joined any seat.
Candidates who remained unallotted in earlier MCC rounds.
Candidates who did not participate earlier but are eligible for fresh registration.
Candidates willing to consider a wider range of colleges, locations or quotas.
Candidates considering BDS or eligible Central B.Sc. Nursing seats separately from MBBS.
Candidates who can meet the fees and documents required for Deemed University, NRI, institutional or special quota choices.
A candidate already holding a joined seat should not leave that seat based only on the release of this schedule.
MCC registration fee and security deposit
The current 2026 MCC Information Bulletin lists the following amounts.
AIQ, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, AFMC and participating B.Sc. Nursing seats
Category | Non-refundable registration fee | Refundable security deposit | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
UR/EWS | ₹1,000 | ₹10,000 | ₹11,000 |
SC/ST/OBC/PwD | ₹500 | ₹5,000 | ₹5,500 |
Deemed University choices
Candidate category | Non-refundable registration fee | Refundable security deposit | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
All categories | ₹5,000 | ₹2,00,000 | ₹2,05,000 |
If a candidate applies for both government/MCC seats and Deemed University seats, the bulletin states that the higher Deemed University fee and security amount applies.
The security deposit is refundable only according to MCC’s refund rules. If a candidate receives a seat in a later round and does not join, the security deposit may be forfeited.
Choice filling: what students must understand
This is a vacancy-based round. A seat can be allotted only if:
The seat appears in the Special Stray vacancy matrix.
The candidate is eligible for the seat, category and quota.
The candidate adds the seat to the choice list.
The candidate’s NEET UG merit is sufficient after considering higher-ranked candidates.
The candidate has completed registration and payment successfully.
Fill only choices you are ready to join
Candidates must check the following before adding any college:
Annual tuition fee and total course cost.
Hostel, mess and other compulsory charges.
Service bond or discontinuation penalty.
NRI or institutional eligibility requirements.
Location and travel time for reporting.
Availability of original documents.
College recognition and the exact course shown in the matrix.
Do not add a high-fee Deemed or NRI seat as a trial choice. If MCC allots that choice and the candidate does not join, the security deposit and further eligibility may be affected under the counselling scheme.
Realistic admission chances in the Special Stray Round
MCC has not yet published the Special Stray vacancy matrix. Therefore, no genuine college-wise chance percentage or closing-rank estimate can be calculated at this stage.
Government MBBS seats
Government MBBS vacancies are usually very limited at this stage. Competition may remain high even when only one seat appears in a college or category.
A lower closing rank in one isolated category or college cannot be treated as a general cutoff. Admission depends on the exact vacancy, category, quota, choice order and the number of eligible candidates above the student’s rank.
Central institutes, AIIMS and JIPMER
A chance exists only if a seat is returned or remains vacant and appears in the official matrix. Students should not expect vacancies merely because these institutes are covered by MCC counselling.
Deemed University MBBS seats
Deemed University vacancies may provide a wider rank range where the fee is high, but this is not guaranteed. Candidates must verify the full fee package directly from the institute before adding the choice.
Budget, refundable security deposit, annual fee, hostel charges and any NRI conditions must be checked before locking.
BDS seats
The notification provides both a 5th and a 6th round for BDS. This may create more late-stage options than MBBS, but college quality, clinical exposure, patient load, fee and location must still be assessed.
The 6th round is a separate BDS/B.Sc. Nursing round. An MBBS candidate cannot use it for an MBBS allotment.
Reserved-category and PwD candidates
Category-specific chances depend entirely on the seats shown against that category in the official matrix. Candidates must keep valid certificates ready in the prescribed format.
Do not claim a category benefit unless the certificate, validity date and issuing authority meet MCC requirements.
HGE choice-filling strategy
When the vacancy matrix is published:
Remove colleges that the candidate cannot afford or will not join.
Arrange every acceptable choice in the candidate’s true preference order.
Place the best preferred college first. Choice order does not reduce merit.
Include realistic backup options below the aspirational choices.
Check the course carefully before locking, especially MBBS versus BDS or B.Sc. Nursing.
Download the final locked-choice slip and payment receipt.
Keep sufficient time for portal delays. Do not wait for the final hour.
There is no fixed “safe rank” before the vacancy matrix is released. Any counsellor promising a guaranteed Special Stray MBBS seat without the matrix and candidate’s exact eligibility is making an unsupported claim.
Reporting rules after allotment
The Special Stray result is scheduled for 7 November 2026.
Candidates allotted a seat must:
Download the MCC allotment letter.
Contact the allotted college immediately.
Check the college’s working hours and fee-payment method.
Carry all required original documents and photocopies.
Complete admission by 5:00 PM on 16 November 2026, according to MCC server timing.
MCC states that reporting deadlines will not be extended for individual candidates. Admission formalities at some institutes may take more than one day, so candidates should not plan to report on the final day.
Documents to keep ready
Candidates should keep the following documents ready, as applicable:
MCC allotment letter.
NEET UG 2026 admit card.
NEET UG 2026 result/rank letter.
Class 10 certificate or birth proof.
Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate.
Valid photo identity proof.
Passport-size photographs.
Category certificate in the required format.
PwD certificate from an authorised medical board, where applicable.
NRI relationship, sponsorship and embassy documents, where applicable.
Domicile or institutional eligibility documents for restricted quotas.
Transfer, migration and character certificates required by the institute.
Fee-payment arrangement and any undertaking required by the allotted college.
BDS/B.Sc. Nursing 6th Round schedule
This later schedule is only for BDS and B.Sc. Nursing seats.

Choice filling | 17 November to 19 November, up to 9:00 AM on 19 November |
Choice locking | 18 November, 4:00 PM to 19 November, 9:00 AM |
Seat-allotment processing | 19 November 2026 |
Result publication | 20 November 2026 |
Reporting | 21 November to 28 November 2026, up to 5:00 PM |
Important discrepancy in the official PDF
The MCC PDF prints the 6th-round registration period as 17 November to 19 November, but the same cell says registration is available only up to 3:00 PM on 18 November.
Until MCC issues a correction or clarification, candidates should treat 18 November 2026 at 3:00 PM as the safer registration deadline. Do not rely on the payment window remaining open until 19 November as proof that registration will also remain open.
