Madhya Pradesh NEET UG 2026: Round 2 resignation extended to 1 October, 6 PM
MP DME opens Round 2 MBBS/BDS resignation through 1 October, 6 PM; in-person college visit, financial penalty and later MP state-round exclusion apply.
Madhya Pradesh NEET UG 2026: Round 2 resignation window open to 1 October, 6 PM
Madhya Pradesh's Directorate of Medical Education (DME) issued a notice dated 21 September 2026 for its state combined MBBS/BDS counselling. The Round 2 resignation window runs 22 September to 1 October 2026, until 6:00 PM IST. An admitted candidate who wishes to resign must report in person to the college of admission for online resignation. Merely leaving or sending an offline request is not the process stated in this notice.
What changed and who is affected
The earlier DME Round 2 timetable dated 3 September listed online resignation/cancellation at college level through 18 September 2026, 5:00 PM. The newly dated notice supplies a further 22 September–1 October, 6:00 PM window. The separate 18 September notice about admission extended the *last date of Round 2 admission* to 19 September, 6:00 PM; that is not the new resignation deadline.
This notice concerns candidates admitted under MP state Round 2 MBBS/BDS counselling who are considering resignation. It does not extend reporting for admission or automatically make a candidate eligible for the mop-up round.
Deadline and action
Earlier timetable: Resignation/cancellation at college level: 12–18 September 2026, until 5:00 PM.
New notice: Resignation window: 22 September–1 October 2026, until 6:00 PM.
Candidate action: If you decide to resign, go in person to your admitted college within the new window and have the resignation processed online. Obtain and retain confirmation from the college. Check your own allotment and obligations before deciding.
Important consequence
DME states that a penalty of ₹2 lakh for a non-NRI candidate or ₹10 lakh for an NRI candidate applies under its rules and that resigning candidates will not be eligible for subsequent rounds of MP State UG counselling. This is a serious choice, not a no-cost extension or a route into the MP mop-up round. The notice does not itself establish your eligibility in MCC or any other state's process; check the relevant authority's rules independently.
Data Analysis
Round 2 resignation — earlier timetable: 12–18 September; close 5:00 PM on 18 September 2026. Round 2 resignation — 21 September notice: 22 September–1 October; close 6:00 PM on 1 October 2026. Difference for candidates: A further official window is available, but the stated penalty and exclusion from later MP state rounds remain central to the decision.
There is no seat matrix or allotment-result change in this resignation notice; no seat totals or cutoffs can be inferred from it. Candidates should not confuse this state resignation process with central MCC or AACCC rules.
Practical guidance
Compare your current seat, fee and bond terms with realistic alternatives before resigning. Ask the admitted college how it will complete the online resignation and issue confirmation. If you are unsure about the penalty, NRI classification or future counselling eligibility, obtain written clarification from DME or the college before acting. Hire Guide Education can help interpret the official rules, documents, seat matrices, college options and round-wise strategy; it cannot guarantee a new allotment.
