Total MBBS+BDS intake in the official matrices is 8,755 seats, while 8,402 seats are under ACPUGMEC Round 1 GQ/MQ/NRI counselling.

So 7,459 of 8,402 ACPUGMEC-controlled MBBS/BDS seats were allotted in Round 1.

The official seat matrices earmark:

• 60 MBBS PwD seats
• 11 BDS PwD seats

PwD is a horizontal reservation, so these seats are included within the parent OPEN/SC/ST/SEBC/EWS totals — they must not be added again.

The official vacancy file shows exactly:

• 24 MBBS GQ vacancies
• 11 BDS GQ vacancies

Analysis of the official matrix and result shows that these 35 GQ vacancies correspond to unfilled PwD seats awaiting conversion to their respective parent categories.

So students should not interpret these 35 seats as ordinary fresh unreserved GQ vacancies.

Gujarat Government MBBS Cutoff 2026 — OPEN Category

The official Last Rank result shows the following Round 1 OPEN benchmarks.

What Does This Mean?

For OPEN Government MBBS, BJMC Ahmedabad remains far ahead of every other Gujarat State counselling college.

There is then a clear second competitive band:

• Vadodara
• Surat
• Rajkot
• Jamnagar

and then Bhavnagar/ESIC.

Gujarat MBBS Management Quota Cutoff 2026

All 430 original Management Quota MBBS seats are filled in Round 1.

The official matrix had:

• MBBS NRI: 862
• BDS NRI: 148

Round 1 allotted:

Vacant:

• MBBS NRI: 761
• BDS NRI: 147

That means almost 90% of the NRI pool remains vacant after Round 1.

Why Is This Extremely Important?

ACPUGMEC's official rules clearly state:

Vacant NRI seats will be converted to Management Quota seats with Management Quota fees during Round 2.

This also applies to vacant NRI seats of:

• GMERS Medical Colleges
• Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhuj

even though these colleges do not have a normal original Management Quota.

Round 2 Impact

This can potentially create a large additional Management Quota seat pool in Round 2.

For candidates seeking Private/Management MBBS, this is much more significant than the current ordinary GQ vacancy number.

⚠️ Do not assume all 908 seats will automatically appear unchanged.

Which MBBS NRI Seats Filled in Round 1?

The 101 MBBS NRI allotments were heavily concentrated in a small number of institutions.

Examples include:

• GMERS Sola — 30/30
• GMERS Gandhinagar — 30/30
• GMERS Gotri — 28/30
• GCS Medical College — 9/30
• SMIMER — 2
• GMERS Himmatnagar — 1
• GMERS Valsad — 1

Many other NRI seat pools remained completely or largely vacant.

This is why Round 2 NRI-to-MQ conversion will be particularly important.

Municipal Local Quota — NHL & SMIMER

There are 138 Local Quota MBBS seats, included within Government Quota:

• NHL Municipal Medical College — 68
• SMIMER Surat — 70

All 138 Local Quota seats were allotted in Round 1.

Category distribution:

Local Quota merit should remain separate from ordinary GQ merit.

Do not compare NHL Local or SMIMER Local cutoff directly with ordinary Gujarat GQ cutoff.

Gujarat BDS Cutoff 2026 — Round 1

All 87 MQ BDS seats were allotted.

Closing range runs approximately from:

MPD — Merit 9,727 / Score 356 / AIR 3.95 lakh

to:

Goenka Dental — Merit 10,970 / Score 329 / AIR 4.86 lakh

BDS NRI

Only:

1 of 148 NRI BDS seats

was allotted in Round 1.

That means 147 NRI BDS seats remain vacant, creating substantial potential NRI-to-MQ conversion for Round 2.

What Are the 943 Vacant Seats After Round 1?

ACPUGMEC has separately published the official:

Gujarat Round 2 Admission Chances — Category & Quota Wise

OPEN Government MBBS

The current ordinary GQ pool is nearly full.

Only 24 MBBS GQ seats remain in the non-converted vacancy file, and these correspond to unfilled horizontal PwD positions.

Therefore:

Do not expect a huge Government MBBS OPEN cutoff fall only because “943 seats are vacant.”

Most of those 943 seats are NRI, not ordinary Government MBBS seats.

Government MBBS Round 2 movement will depend more on:

• Round 1 non-reporting
• free exits
• candidates moving to MCC/other States
• upgradation
• PwD conversion
• subsequent vacancy reconciliation

Candidates only slightly outside their target college/category Round 1 cutoff have the strongest reason to watch Round 2.

SC / ST / SEBC / EWS

The current vertical category seat pools are also almost fully allotted.

Existing non-converted GQ seats are small:

• OPEN: 16 across MBBS+BDS
• SC: 1
• ST: 4
• SEBC: 11
• EWS: 3

But these figures relate primarily to pending horizontal PwD conversion.

Later vacancies after reporting can add to the pool.

Therefore use your exact category cutoff, not the OPEN cutoff.

Management MBBS

This is where Round 2 could change dramatically.

Original MBBS MQ seats:

430 — all filled

But:

761 MBBS NRI seats remain vacant

and ACPUGMEC says vacant NRI seats convert to MQ.

So candidates around or somewhat beyond current Management closing ranges may have a meaningful Round 2 opportunity if the converted-seat matrix is large.

NRI

Candidates who are genuinely NRI eligible still have a very large remaining seat pool.

But financial affordability and NRI documentation remain crucial.

BDS

BDS also has major later-round potential because:

• 11 GQ seats await conversion
• 147 NRI seats remain vacant

The NRI-to-MQ conversion can substantially increase Management BDS availability.

What Allotted Candidates Must Do

If you want to confirm your Round 1 seat:

1. Login to ACPUGMEC.
2. Download the allotment letter.
3. Download fee challan.
4. Pay prescribed tuition fee.
5. Take a prior Help Centre appointment while printing the allotment letter.
6. Carry original documents.
7. Submit originals at the appointed Help Centre.
8. Complete admission confirmation and obtain the admission order.

Do not consider an online allotment alone as completed admission.

Special Rule for NRI-Allotted Candidates

A candidate allotted an NRI seat must pay:

₹5,00,000 refundable deposit

by:

3 September 2026 — 3:30 PM

After document verification/admission confirmation, the prescribed NRI tuition fee must be paid at the allotted institution in US Dollar or equivalent currency by 5 September 2026 at 12 Noon.

Failure to pay within the official time can cancel the admission.

Can I Participate in Gujarat Round 2?

Yes — Gujarat's official four-round rules provide a very important Round 1 Free Exit.

The following Round 1 candidates can participate in Round 2 using their existing registration:

• Not allotted
• Allotted but not reported
• Allotted and reported

The rules state this is allowed without forfeiture of the security deposit in Round 1.

Candidates already registered and document-verified in Round 1 do not need fresh registration for Round 2.

This makes Gujarat Round 2 particularly important for candidates seeking:

• Government college upgrade
• GMERS upgrade
• Private GQ upgrade
• newly converted Management seats
• NRI-to-MQ opportunities

If You Got a Good Government MBBS Seat

Confirm the seat within the reporting period if you want to retain admission.

You can still assess Round 2 upgradation under the applicable Free Exit rules.

Do not miss Round 1 confirmation simply because you are hoping for a slightly better college.

If You Got a Lower Preference

Compare:

Your Current College → Your Category Closing Rank → Higher Preference College Closing Rank

If the gap is small, Round 2 deserves close attention.

If You Got No MBBS Seat

Your chances depend heavily on quota.

Government GQ

A major cutoff fall should not be assumed because current regular GQ is nearly full.

Management

Round 2 can be much more interesting because 761 vacant MBBS NRI seats are eligible for NRI-to-MQ conversion.

NRI

There is a very large current vacant pool, subject to eligibility and fee.

BDS

Government and private BDS remain realistic options at substantially deeper ranks than Government MBBS.
