Bihar NEET UG 2026 Round 1 β Big Numbers
The Round 1 seat matrix shows:
- 1,392 Bihar-quota Government MBBS seats after AIQ/Central Nominee deduction
- 30 Government BDS seats
- 2,450 Private MBBS seats
- 200 Private BDS seats
The released Round 1 allotment data contains approximately:
- 3,574 MBBS allotments
- 221 BDS allotments
This makes Round 1 extremely important for estimating Bihar NEET UG 2026 Round 2 admission chances.
Bihar Government MBBS Seat Analysis
Government MBBS seats available through Bihar UGMAC after deduction of AIQ/Central Nominee seats total 1,392.
Major colleges include:
- PMCH Patna
- IGIMS Patna
- NMCH Patna
- DMCH Laheriasarai
- JLNMCH Bhagalpur
- SKMCH Muzaffarpur
- ANMMCH Gaya
- GMC Bettiah
- BMIMS Pawapuri
- JKTMCH Madhepura
- GMC Purnea
- ESIC Medical College Bihta
Government MBBS Competition
Round 1 confirms that PMCH and IGIMS remain among the most competitive Bihar State counselling choices.
Examples from the released allotment/cutoff data:
| College | Category | Opening AIR | Closing AIR |
|---|---|---|---|
| PMCH Patna | UR | 845 | 5,304 |
| IGIMS Patna | UR | 3,009 | 7,071 |
| NMCH Patna | UR | 5,389 | 8,861 |
| DMCH Laheriasarai | UR | 7,638 | 10,362 |
| BMIMS Pawapuri | UR | 9,145 | 11,687 |
| SKMCH Muzaffarpur | UR | 9,662 | 11,917 |
Important: Compare your rank with the exact college + category + seat type. A single statewide βBihar cutoffβ cannot accurately predict every candidate's chances.
PMCH Patna Category-Wise Round 1 Cutoff
PMCH provides a useful picture of competition at the top end of Bihar Government MBBS counselling.
| Category | Opening AIR | Closing AIR |
|---|---|---|
| UR | 845 | 5,304 |
| EWS | 5,631 | 7,004 |
| BC | 5,470 | 6,491 |
| EBC | 5,498 | 8,023 |
| SC | 11,842 | 55,072 |
| ST | 25,235 | 25,235 |
| RCG | 7,214 | 8,411 |
| DQ | 11,324 | 3,80,662 |
This also explains why students must not compare only their NEET AIR with the UR closing rank. Reservation and horizontal seat conditions materially change the effective allotment range.
Private MBBS β Much Wider Rank Range
Bihar's private MBBS pool is much larger.
The official matrix contains 2,450 Private MBBS seats, including:
- 1,831 UR/open private seats
- 225 Muslim Minority seats
- 60 Sikh Minority seats
- 334 NRI seats
This creates a very different admission range from Government MBBS.
Examples of Round 1 UR closing AIR:
- Katihar Medical College β around 1.51 lakh
- MGMMC Kishanganj β around 1.46 lakh
- NMCH Sasaram β around 2.82 lakh
- Lord Budha Koshi Medical College β around 3.36 lakh
- Shri Narayan Medical Institute β around 3.83 lakh
- RDJM Medical College β around 4.43 lakh
- Madhubani Medical College β around 4.47 lakh
- Netaji Subhas Medical College β around 4.96 lakh
- Himalaya Medical College β around 5.73 lakh
- Mahabodhi Medical College β around 7.03 lakh
- Buddha Hospital & Research Institute, Gaya β around 7.74 lakh
What Does This Mean?
Students outside the Government MBBS cutoff range can still have realistic Bihar MBBS opportunities if their budget and eligibility permit Private / Minority / NRI routes.
But rank alone is not enough.
Before choosing a private seat, compare:
- tuition fee
- hostel and other compulsory charges
- seat type
- minority eligibility
- NRI eligibility
- bond/undertaking
- total course cost
Bihar BDS Round 1 Cutoff
Government BDS at Patna Dental College remained substantially more competitive than most private BDS options.
Examples:
- Patna Dental College UR: AIR approximately 25,931β35,416
- Patna Dental College EWS: approximately 36,632β37,044
- Patna Dental College EBC: approximately 36,319β38,102
- Patna Dental College SC: approximately 1,54,815β1,79,172
Private BDS extended considerably deeper in Round 1, with some colleges reaching several lakh AIR.
Students considering BDS should compare Government vs Private fee and their MBBS Round 2 possibilities before making a final decision.
What If You Got a Government MBBS Seat?
If you received a preferred Government MBBS college, your immediate priority is document verification and admission from 27β31 August.
Do not miss the reporting process while waiting for Round 2 information.
What If You Got a Lower-Preference Government College?
Your Round 1 result is valuable.
Do not judge an upgrade only by NEET AIR.
Compare:
Your AIR β Current college/category cutoff β Higher preferred college Round 1 closing AIR β Expected vacancies after reporting
Candidates close to a higher-preference Round 1 closing rank can have meaningful upgrade possibilities, but actual Round 2 movement depends on vacancies.
What If You Got No Government MBBS Seat?
Round 1 cutoff gives your first reliable 2026 benchmark.
Practical interpretation
- Very close to Round 1 closing rank: Round 2 deserves serious attention.
- Moderately outside the cutoff: keep broader Government choices and evaluate movement.
- Far outside Government cutoff: do not depend only on Government MBBS; evaluate Private MBBS/BDS routes according to budget and eligibility.
There is no guaranteed Round 2 rank movement until BCECEB publishes the vacancy position.
What If You Got a Private MBBS Seat?
First verify the exact seat type.
Bihar private colleges contain different:
- Open/UR seats
- Minority seats
- NRI seats
The fee and eligibility can differ sharply.
Do not report merely because the college name says βMBBSβ. Confirm the seat category + total financial commitment first.
Round 2 Chances β What Should Students Watch?
Round 2 movement will mainly depend on:
- Candidates not reporting in Bihar Round 1
- Candidates shifting to MCC/AIQ seats
- Candidates moving to another State
- Upgradation within Bihar
- Vacancies created after resignation/non-admission
- Revised seat availability, if officially notified
Therefore Round 1 closing rank is a benchmark, not a guaranteed Round 2 cutoff.

Hire Guide Education Advice
Do not compare your NEET rank with one generic Bihar cutoff.
For a realistic Round 2 assessment, compare the exact:
College + Course + Category + Seat Type + Round 1 Closing Rank
Government MBBS, Private MBBS, Minority, NRI and BDS are different admission routes and should be analysed separately.
